History of Beacon Hill Church
The vision for Beacon Hill Church began in 1968 with Pastor Paul Anderson of Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Trumbull, CT. During the 1960s, VBS and other ministries began on property that once belonged to the Northstar Swedish camp and the success convinced many that the time was ripe to plant a new church there, which would be called Beacon Hill Church.
The first pastor, Wayne Hanson, began work in 1972 and the first worship services were held that October and the church officially joined the EFCA.
In the spring of 1973, work began to renovate the property on Old Zoar Road, funded by Calvary Church with volunteer workers from both Calvary and Beacon Hill. The newly renovated building was completed and dedicated in 1975 and services began there with 14 charter members.
In 1990, Pastor Hanson resigned to pursue a seminary teaching career and Pastor Stan Hoglund served as interim pastor. In 1991, Reverend Richard Flashman was called as Pastor.
In 2003, as the congregation grew, with a vision to reach the community and promote Christian education, construction begun on a church addition. This project was completed and dedicated in 2006.
Also in 2013, Pastor Flashman resigned to pursue full time missions work with Chosen People Ministries in Brooklyn where he is involved in a church plant and teaching at their Charles Feinberg Messianic Jewish Studies Program affiliated to Talbot School of Theology and Biola University
Pastor Greg Foss, who joined Beacon Hill in 2012 as Pastor of Youth and Family, after serving as interim pastor after the departure of Pastor Terry Wilcox, Pastor Foss was made Senior Pastor on October 11, 2015. He resigned Beacon Hill Church in September 2016 to pursue a new ministry in the Miami, FL area.
We were also blessed with many godly interim pastors.
Pastor Don Beachy joined Beacon Hill Church in 2019 as Senior Pastor and lead us through the COVID-19 pandemic. We're now engaged on a fruitful season of ministry together. We look to glorify God, live the gospel in our community, and serve our neighbors.
